On Thursday, 22nd Feb 07 Digital Harbour was buzzing with young entrepreneurs who had the chance to gain insight into how to run a successful business from one of the best Master Entrepreneurs: Paul Bassat, CEO and Co-Founder of SEEK.com.au
Paul talked about how SEEK was born and developed and went through its different stages from setting up the business to its current state. He explained what competition they were against initially and issues they had to solve along the way: from getting new clients to receiving enough funding.
Paul Bassat, CEO & CO-Founder of SEEK.com.au
He emphasized that staff is what makes or breaks a business and encouraged the audience to hire staff that is passionate and willing to develop the business over staff with experience and skills, which can always be learned and taught.
Values in business was another interesting issue Paul expanded on. Values should be well defined, but more important than putting values on a piece of paper are 'actual' values: the way management treats staff and clients. The place of work should be a place where everyone wants to work and everyone gets involved in improving the business.
Before and after the this Masterclass - which was sponsored by BSI People and organized by BSI, the 2nd most important thing on the agenda was networking over excellent fingerfood and great atmosphere.
