Simon Birmingham … thank you!!

Funding boost to support Australian exporters and tourism businesses – but not for funds already spent in the current 2018/2019 claim period

Federal Trade and Tourism Minister Simon Birmingham announced today that

the Government will inject a much needed cash flow injection to the 2000 plus aussie exporters – providing an extra $49.8 million (making a total support package of $207.7m ) into the Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) program in the 2019-20 financial year, allowing exporters to receive most of their EMDG entitlement.

“We recognise the current COVID-19 crisis is placing immense pressure on Australian exporters and tourism businesses, many of whom felt the earliest and deepest aspects of the economic downturn,” Minister Birmingham said.

“The EMDG scheme has been a hugely successful programme – providing a marketing subsidy (up to 50%) to support the marketing costs associated in reaching new markets.

“This is a prudent investment in Government money, supporting entrepreneurial and outward looking businesses that will be crucial to our future economic recovery.” Said Ivan Kaye – Founder of BSI Innovation – which has been helping innovators and exporters find capital and grants .
